New moon rising
In a west coast sky
Gonna wait a little longer
For mine, for mine
Tangled up in the memory
Of the long road that’s taken me
From red rock altars
To this night
The northern crown
It rises high
I throw my past
Right onto the pyre
The one I built
When driven to my knees
I called for help
And I told you baby
I need to be free
Here in the bed I made
I lay me down tonight
Nothing more than a broken heap
But I am still alive
I will not be tamed
I will not be caged
Trapped inside
The day to day
Confines built
By choices I made
I always do the right thing
For everyone else except for me
And I’m the one that slowly bleeds
I’m slowly bleeding out
Here I lay in the bed I made
The one I set on fire
Out of the ashes
I will rise
As something wild
I will not be tamed
I will not be chained
Oh, I tried to live the life
You said would make me happy
You can keep your picket fences
I learned the hard way
They come at a price
Here I am, eyes open wide
I am not afraid
To walk through the fire
To be saved
To be wild
I will not be tamed
I will not be caged
